The Department of Aircraft Production (DAP) built an Engine Overhaul Workshop on this site during the war, to overhaul aircraft engines following a designated number of flying hours of operation. The site consisted of seven large vaulted warehouse portions, that housed workshops, storage areas and machinery bays.

History
This workshop was the third to be built in Moorooka by the DAP for the overhaul of aircraft engines. It was listed within the DAP as 'Servicing of Aircraft Serial No. 1179.' An earlier Australian National Airways (ANA) workshop (No. 1172) was built on Muriel Avenue, while the Qantas Empire Airways workshop (No. 1176) was located between Dinmore Street and Hamilton Road.
The workshop was built between 1942-1943 and primarily staffed by ANA employees. Like the earlier ANA facility, engine overhaul work focussed on resupplying the United States Army Air Force. Between the three Moorooka facilities, an estimated 500 men and...
