Description
The original Digger monument was erected in 1921 by the Ulam Memorial Committee, with the rough marble having been shipped to Italy to be sculptured. The digger has since been replaced by an obelisk. Local coarse sparkling Ulam marble was used in several Queensland war memorials.
The memorial has three panels and includes Rolls of Honour to the four dead and 24 who served, including a number of sets of related individuals.

1914 - ROLL OF HONOUR - 1919 - FOR GOD, KING AND EMPIRE - THIS STONE IS ERECTED BY THE RESIDENTS OF LUAM, BAJOOL AND DISTRICT IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO PAID THE SUPREME SACRIFICE IN THE GREAT WAR - NAMES
