Memorial information
Description
The monument rises to a height of 22 feet with a column of red granite surmounted by a small marble statue of an Australian soldier standing at ease in the pose repeatedly used by Williams for his war memorials. The elaborate pedestal is of marble, with a block recessed behind four red granite posts and with four marble urns on the cornice above. The monument rests on a base of Melbourne bluestone and a stepped foundation. It is surrounded by paving and enclosed by a wooden fence with front and back gates. A large guyed timber flagstaff stands to the north west and a captured gun (or war trophy) is mounted on the path approaching the monument.
Inscription
The recessed panels list 221 servicemen, 28 of whom paid the supreme sacrifice.
