Memorial information

Description

A one-off type of white marble digger which was relocated to Woocoo Historical Museum site late 1992, adjacent to Pioneers Park. This memorial comprises of a life-sized marble statue of an Australian soldier standing with head bowed and arms reversed on an elaborate sandstone pedestal with a stepped base. The pedestal has a set of leaded marble plates recessed under arches and bearing the names of the ten local soldiers who fell and the 39 others who also served in WWI.

Inscription

On fames eternal camping ground
Their silent tents are spread
Where glory guards with solemn around
The Bivouac of the Dead.
On the base of the pedestal another set of plates record and names of the 43 local men and women who served in WWII.
