Description

This memorial is in the form of a large stone displaying a metal plaque dedicatd to the United States military forces station in the area during the Second World War.

Inscription

THIS MONUMENT WAS ERECTED ON SATURDAY 16TH MAY 1992 TO COMMEMORATE THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF THE CORAL SEA AND ACKNOWLEDGES THE PRESENCE OF THOUSANDS OF U.S. DEFENCE FORCE PERSONNEL WHO WERE STATIONED AT THIS AERODROME DURING WWII AND TOOK PART IN THAT BATTLE.
