Memorial information

Description

The sandstone memorial topped with a cross, on a stepped base, is set in the Drayton Soldiers Memorial Park which was completely revamped for 25 April 1991. Paving and gardens were added and the memorial cleaned.

Inscription

THEIR NAME LIVETH FOREVERMORE

Plaque reads: In Memoriam and lists 15 names for World War I, 4 names for Second World War 1939–1945 and 1 name for Korea 1950–1953.

Centre plaque reads: Erected by the residents of Drayton and district in grateful remembrance of those residents who fell in the Great War.

A further plaque reads: The Great War. War declared Aug. 4th 1914. Armistice Day Nov. 11th 1918. Treaty of Peace signed June 28th 1919.
