Memorial information

Description

The monument towers over the main intersection from a platform foundation of concrete, approached by steps at the sides. The sandstone pedestal is surmounted by a life-sized marble (Italian) statue of an Australian Infantry soldier standing with head bowed and arms reversed. The pedestal has a recessed block bearing leaded marble plates for World Wars I and II, the original plate being on the front. The recessed block is enclosed within Tuscan columns and entablature. The memorial bears a total of 37 names of the local fallen: 29 names for WWI and 8 names for WWII.
