Description

The life-size soldier stands on a typical Petrie base, looking down, with arms reversed. The slouch hat, with hair and chin strap visible, is different from all other Petrie memorials. An ammunition pouch is carved across his chest.
Dedicated in 1920.

Inscription

Kandanga Roll of Honour is carved into the stepped base.

Plaque reads: Erected by the residents of this district in appreciation of those who sacrificed their lives in the Great War 1914-1919. Their name liveth for evermore. One plaque lists the names of 9 Privates, and one L/Cpl who was awarded the Military Medal. A second plaque lists the names of 2 Corporals, 1 Lance Corporal and 7 Privates. The second plaque has 1939–1945 1 S.Sgt, 1 Cpl and 2 Privates listed at the bottom.
