Memorial information

Description

Originally a digger very similar to that at Greenmount, Darling Downs, stood on this memorial but the digger was damaged and removed following a cyclone in 1968. It has been replaced by an obelisk. The sandstone memorial, very similar in structure to Greenmount apart from the pillars, features corner pillars supporting an elaborately carved top section with rifles and laurel wreaths.

There are 21 names listed around the top of the memorial. Honor Roll. (not Honour) has 64 names listed on four plaques around the centre of the memorial. Under these are four smaller plaques each listing 4 names A further 15 names are at the base of one side of the memorial. In total there are 116 names listed, a large total for a small country centre. It is not clear how many of those were killed.
