Memorial information
Description
One of the most ornate and unique timber Honour Boards in Queensland. Located at the top of the stairs on Level 1 of the Conrad Treasury Hotel, the Board reminds the viewer of the previous usage of the heritage buidling.
The Board is ornate and displays intricate carving details, which complement the commemorative elements. The top left corner of the Board displays a plaster 'cameo' style oval frieze of gallant soldiers advancing into battle. To the right of this there is a carved 'Roll of Honour' scroll and the Roll fo Honour panel is surrounded by a swathe of foliage and flowers.
In the centre of the Board, the Roll fo Honour displays and lists 93 individuals from the Department of Public Lands, Brisbane, who enlisted in the Australian Imperial Forces during the Great War. Of this number, 13 of those listed were Authorised Surveyors.
The Honour Board is a unique record of Queensland military heritage.
