Description
The complete memorial consists of a concrete map of both North and South Vietnam as they were known during the Vietnam War. North is painted Red and the South is painted green. On the map of Sth Vietnam there are a number of brass plaques depicting the places where Aust Troops were located. These plaques are named Da Nang, Phang Rang, Saigon, Vung Tau, Nui Dat and Bien Hoa. There is a path going through the centre of the memorial which has pavers donated by PGH and hand punched by members of the VVAA Bne Nth Sub Branch depicting all the major units that served in Vietnam. The map has gardens along one side.
There is a large dedication rock with a plaque on it with replica medals of the AASM, Vietnam Medal, British General Service Medal post 62 and the Vietnam Campaign medal and Vietnam Logisitcs Support Medal plus replicas of the unit citations presented which were the US Presidential Citation, USA Meritorious Service Citation, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm, US Navy Meritorious Unit Citation, US Navy Commendation, US Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Combat V Device and three flag poles. In front of the rock is three more brass plaques depicting Navy, Army and Air Force.
