Memorial information

Description

The life-sized digger stands with eyes lowered and arms reversed, not with the more usual Williams' sloping rifle. LEST WE FORGET is carved into the sandstone base. The extremely clear lettering on the plaque reads: Oxley honours the memory of (15 names) who fell in the Great War 1914-1919, above a Royal Australian Navy badge. The sides of the memorial feature Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force badges.

Inscription

The marble plaque above the Army badge reads:

World War II 1939–1945; Korean War 1950–1953; and the plaque above the RAAF badge reads: Malayan Emergency 1950-1960, Vietnam War 1962–1972.
