Memorial information

Description

It is a splendid timber Honour Board about 14 feet high and mounted in a prominent and sheltered position opposite the refreshment rooms. The richly moulded broken pediment is supported by consoles and bears the British Coat of Arms. Underneath the names are recorded in gold paint in 6 main panels of lighter wood, and also on 2 side panels added later. The whole board is elegantly ornamented with Queensland Railway monograms, AIF badges, shell ornament and scrolls - these and other decorative details being highlighted with gold paint.

The board is mounted on to a wall with boards running in a diamond pattern. A leaded marble unveiling plaque is fixed to the centre base, and the board is protected by a railing. It is the most splendid war Honour Board to be found in a Queensland railway station, and one of the State's largest known Honour Boards.
