Quilpie War Memorial

The memorial is a stone obelisk set on a concrete base, surrounded by a pipe and wire fence and gravel and concrete paths. It is the only memorial in Queensland that has names of service personnel on plaques on a mesh rectangle above the top of the memorial. Behind the memorial is a drinking fountain on which the plaque reads: In memory of a greatly loved Good Samaritan, Flight Lieutenant T J (Metre) Hammond, No 2 Squadron R.A.A.F. 1914–1918. In the keeping of the Lord. Erected by his sisters, Oreal Hammond and F M Terrey.
There is 1 name under Boer War 1899–1902; and there are 20 names under World War I 1914–1918; and 214 names divided into alphabetical groups for World War II, 1939–1945.
There is a 3 inch mortar immediately in front of the memorial, and a twin set of lights above it. Flagpole erected by RSSILA 25 April 1932. Memorial Park was opened on 25 April 1981 by Sir Wallace Rae.
