Memorial information

Description

The Royal Australian Memorial Walkway forms the backbone for the insertion of individual memorial plaques, set against 688 individually selected trees within the garden setting. The groves of trees vary and there are more than 1000 native trees along the 700 metre path. The path is divided into sections according to areas of historical conflict, starting with Japan and moving forward to eventually include Korea, Malaya, Vietnam, and more recent conflicts such as East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan. The plaques represent an individual who paid the supreme price for their service. The plaques mirror the names on the Roll of Honour.
