Memorial information

Description

The Salvation Army has been providing assistance to individuals serving in the armed forces since the Boer Wars. This organisation established the Red Shield Defence Services in 1914, which saw Salvation Army chaplains sent all over the world to offer practical, emotional and spiritual aid to defence personnel.  Since WWI, the Red Shield Defence has been present at every major conflict and continues to be a positive presence in Australian military life.
