Memorial information

Description

The chapel occupies the transept on the left hand side of the nave, facing the organ pipes and choir. The Merrington Memorial Peace Chapel is dedicated to the Glory of God and in memory of Ernest N. Merrington MA, PhD., Minister of the Church 1910-1923, and Senior Chaplain A.I.F. 1914-1919. The Chapel contains most of the war memorial and commemorative elements housed within the church and is the central location for Anzac Day and Remembrance Day services.
The Chapel was named and dedicated in September 1996, as a designated memorial space. All the Honour Boards, plaques, Honour Rolls and artefacts related to military heritage were moved to the space and provide a significant display.

There are a number of plaques that support the Peace Chapel.
