Memorial information

Description

This memorial has outstanding significance: as the only one of its type in Queensland, similar to a Cross of Sacrifice in war cemeteries and is an historical record of local participation and sacrifice in war.

The white block cross with sword, and light on top, is similar to a Cross of Sacrifice normally found only in war cemeteries with more than 50 burials. It is six sided at the base, and is on several tiers. Inscription at lower front is Their name liveth for evermore, and 22 names are listed around the sides.

The cross is set in the Surat Memorial Park.
