Memorial information
Description
A sandstone obelisk is set on a stepped base, with a pipe railing fence supported by sandstone blocks right beside the memorial. The whole is in a small triangular park and there is a flagpole behind the memorial. Originally having a white wooden fence with a small wire gate in front of the memorial, the fencing was taken down when the road to the left was widened in 1993-1994.
Lower front plaque reads: Heroes of the Great War 1914-1919, and lists 8 names - 1 Gunner, 1 Corporal, 5 Privates and 1 Signaller. Beside the names is a recessed cross with black dots in it. Some of the names are also on the Killarney memorial.
The higher plaque on the front reads: World 1939 1945 War, and a black cross above 10 names - 1 Sergeant, one S/Sergeant, 7 Privates and 1 Corporal. Several family names are repeated. At the bottom of the top plaque it reads: Korean War, with 2 names listed. Plaques around the sides list 1 Nurse, 1 Lieutenant who was awarded the Military Cross, 3 Corporals, 36 Privates (one of whom was awarded the Military Medal), 3 Troopers, 6 Drivers and 1 Sapper, a total of 51 returned.
