Memorial information

Description

Following a traffic accident the memorial has been relocated to a large grassed area at the junction of Belmont, Wynnum and Manly roads. The digger's features are unlike any others on Queensland war memorials, and his uniform is also different from most, featuring a low pouch on the right hip The slouch hat is turned up in the front. The memorial has been painted a dark brown, with slightly lighter brown straps over his shoulders, and the gun is painted pink with black trimmings, again very unusual. The memorial faces into the grassed area and is surrounded by a pipe and chain fence. The digger stands with head bowed and arms reversed, and is on a typical Petrie sandstone base. The flags and base are not painted.
