Upper Coomera Shire War Memorial (Digger)

Memorial information

Description

The life-sized digger stands with eyes down and arms reversed on a typical Petrie base. The sandstone memorial stands on granite blocks surrounded by a white wooden fence with white corner piers. It is on the top of a hill at Upper Coomera. The front of the slouch hat has been broken off. There is a flagpole to the immediate right of the memorial.
The memorial is on a wide stretch of bitumen between the entrance to a property, Bonnie Brae, and the Tamborine Road.

Inscription

The main marble plaque reads:

This memorial was erected by the residents, in honour of the brave lads of the Coomera district who fell in the Great War 1914-19.
They gave their all.
Let you who pass, saluting here their names,
See that through you no slur, nor stain, nor shame
Falls on the land for which they gave their lives - AUSTRALIA.
